Earley St Peter's Church

Following Jesus Together, Exploring Faith

Could you be our next Director of Music?

A lively, energetic, and growing parish church on the edge of Reading, committed to its vibrant choral tradition, seeks Director of Music to build on strong existing foundations.  This is a great opportunity to develop our Christian worship and mission through broadening our musical repertoire and recruiting new members.  There is strong support from the clergy, congregation, and a dedicated choir of currently 31 members.  The Director of Music will plan the choir’s musical programme and direct the choir at rehearsals and services (there is a 10am sung communion on all but the first Sunday of the month, along with three Sunday evening 6.30pm choral services a month, plus a range of special seasonal worship).  The choir sings annually in a cathedral / greater church and a range of sacred / secular music for other occasions in the parish.  There is a large and diverse music library including music from the 16th century to the present day, and the church has a three-manual pipe organ along with a grand piano and electronic keyboard.  There is an organist in post (along with others willing to deputise) but ability to play the organ (sufficient at least to accompany services when required) is needed.

Remuneration will be negotiated in accordance with RSCM Category A rates.  Enhanced DBS clearance is required.
